How to select an irrigation contractor...

As a potential lawn sprinkler customer, you should be able to answer "yes" to all of the questions listed below. This will help you in the decision making process.

  • Has the contractor shown you all of the irrigation equipment he intends to use for      your installation?

  • Have you discussed the quantities and placement of equipment? Matched                precipitation? Proper distribution of water?

  • Is your system being installed with a backflow prevention device in accordance        with your local board of health requirements? Will the backflow device be made of     all brass?

  • Has the question of separate lawn and shrub zones been addressed?

  • Have you discussed the type of pipe, as well as fittings to be used?

  • Can your potential contractor supply you with current workman's compensation        and disability certificates, as well as a current general liability and product liability      policy?

  • Is your potential contractor licensed?

  • After your installation has been completed, does your contractor maintain a              complete service department capable of taking care of your normal annual                irrigation needs?

  • If required, can your contractor supply references with similar size properties and      watering needs?

  • Are modern installation techniques being used to minimize lawn damage?
